New Student Enrollment
Our guidance counselors are here to help students (and parents) make a smooth transition to TMJH. Please see the New Student Enrollment page for enrollment information.
Ice Cream Social
Our guidance counselors and PTSO sponsor an ice cream social for all students to welcome them to TMJH. This gives the students a chance to walk around the school, get their school picture taken for the yearbook and meet and greet old and new friends. Watch our webpage for date of this event.
9th-Grade Presentations by Counselors
Call it "High School 101." Counselors present high school graduation information to our 9th-grade students in the fall. Students will understand the specifics of obtaining a PCHS diploma by learning the credit requirements, the importance of GPA, remediation, math and science pathways, career planning, and opportunities for school activity involvement.
Red Ribbon Week
Red Ribbon Week is a national campaign that creates an awareness of the dangers of alcohol, tobacco, drug abuse, and violence. The goal is prevention through education. During Red Ribbon Week, we have activities during the lunch breaks, prevention announcements, and a special treat at end the week. LIVE ABOVE IT--TMJH students are ABOVE doing drugs and alcohol! The counseling staff would like to thank the Leadership students for their help in planning our Red Ribbon Week activities. Thanks also to the Summit County Health Department and Valley Behavioral Health.
Reality Town, 8th grade only
This is a fun educational program that gives realistic financial experience to our 8th-grade students. Students choose an occupation based on their GPA, then they use their monthly salary and their family profile to make financial choices, such as buying a house, buying groceries, and paying for child care. The goal is to make smart financial choices! Visit the Reality Town USA website to learn more about it. We appreciate all our wonderful parents and community volunteers who participate.
8th-Grade College and Career Readiness Meetings
College and Career Readiness meetings are an opportunity for students and parents to meet with their guidance counselor to discuss high school planning and future academic goals. Please see the CCR page for more information.
The Treasure Mountain Counselors visit the 9th grade English classes the last few weeks of January. The goal is to introduce and familiarize all 9th graders with our new College and Career software Naviance.
Class Registration for the Next School Year
In February/March, our counselors present class registration information to the incoming Ecker 7th graders, our rising 8th-graders, and our outgoing 9th-graders. Keep an eye on our school calendar for important registration dates.
9th grade Planning for High School
In April, the 9th grade are prepared for the 10th grade with the High School counselors help with some high school college and career planning.
State School-Wide Testing
May is an extremely stressful time of year for both students and teachers. During May, all CORE subjects give state mandated testing to students. We ask that parents help us by having your student get plenty of rest and a good breakfast so they are ready to focus on doing their best during the tests. If you have any questions regarding state testing, please do not hesitate to contact us.
You Make a Difference Luncheon
As our school year begins to wind down, the counselors help plan a lunch for students to honor their favorite teacher or staff member that has made a difference during their school year at Treasure. Students are encouraged to write to their favorite teacher explaining what they did to make a difference in their life. The teacher/staff member and the student enjoy a delicious lunch together sponsored by a local restaurant.
End of Year Celebration
The last few weeks of school is when we like to celebrate our students' successes. We have an assembly for our students to show off their many skills. Parents are welcome to attend and watch how wonderfully talented our Treasure students can be.
